Why do we say ‘Easters late this year?’

HOMEPAGE

Did you know Easter can be celebrated anywhere between March 22 through to April 25 in the UK? So who decides when we have it? Would you know when it is next year without looking at your diary?

Here’s what it is based on:-

Easter is always celebrated on the Sunday immediately following the Paschal Full Moon.

The Paschal Full Moon can vary as much as two days from the date of the actual full moon.

So how do you celebrate Easter?

Many traditions relating to Easter are still closely followed around the UK. If in Maidstone look for the Donkey that walks through the town with people holding palm crosses, cars stopping, and church bells ringing- quite a poignant moment of calm.

Visit many places around the UK for similar experiences, of Christians walking en masse through the streets.

Traditional Easter Egg hunts begin in many locations, whether following clues, chasing paper eggs with a chocolate prize at the end, or chocolate eggs gathered throughout the day.

The feeling of spring having ‘sprung’ with small spring flowers popping up in a sea of colour, whether daffodils, primroses or crocuses gently swaying in the breeze. The golden sun appearing through the clouds, lambs starting to dance in the fields- and the feeling of the start of something new. Smiling faces seem to welcome you as the world around us starts to spring to life.
