Ever thought of turning your passion into a business?

HOMEPAGE

Returning to work after having children can seem daunting, costly and often juggling work and home with school holidays, teacher training days, bank holidays can just about be managed and catered for, however the unexpected sick child, unexpected delays/ overrun meetings, the needs of extended family, all cause anxiety and stress, as these are completely out of our control. One solution to this is the ability to work from home. There are enormous fears in making this leap into the unknown- and one which all of us have felt: -

Will I make enough money?

Will I be successful?

What if……. happens? (we place many stumbling blocks in here!)

We should also consider the positives: -

I will be home for all eventualities

I will be contented

I will be less stressed

So what should I do?

The best businesses are derived from providing a solution and from turning a passion into a business.

We’re focusing on a cake business: -

Will my cake business survive? Many bakers have asked this question, and our advice would be to look in your area at the registered cake businesses that are currently successful. Some bakers do beautiful sugar crafted occasion cakes, which are truly a masterpiece in design, others concentrate on cupcakes, others on tray bakes and simpler cakes- like lemon drizzle, others on cookies or biscuits. Some bakers offer afternoon teas and cater including sandwiches. There really is an area you can specialise in.

The biggest hurdles to overcome are: -

a) Confidence in ‘giving it a go’ and investigate what you need to set up and trade

b) Getting your name out there so people know what you do.
